Avelos Therapeutics is a Seoul company making targeted tablets that exploit weaknesses in how cancer cells divide and repair their DNA. Its first drug, AD1208, blocks a cell-division enzyme called MASTL and is in an early trial in advanced solid tumours.
Avelos Therapeutics Inc., based in Magok, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, was established on 1 September 2021, according to the company, and develops biomarker-driven small-molecule targeted therapies in DNA damage response, cell cycle checkpoints and synthetic lethality. Its lead programme AVS1001 (AD1208), a MASTL inhibitor licensed in December 2021 under a collaboration and licensing agreement with a UK research institute, entered a phase 1 trial in December 2024; four further DDR and synthetic lethality programmes (AVS1002 to AVS1005) are in discovery. The company records seed investment from Myriad Lifesciences and Infobank in 2022, a KRW 10 billion Series A in July 2022, a KRW 17 billion Series B in April 2024, and a strategic investment and joint development agreement with Hyundai Pharm in March 2025. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06911333, a phase 1/2a study of AD1208 alone or in combination in progressive, locally advanced or metastatic solid tumours at Korean sites, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in April 2025.
