BigHat Biosciences
BigHat uses machine learning and a fast automated lab to design antibodies. Its first cancer drug, an antibody carrying a chemotherapy payload to stomach and bowel tumours, entered human trials in 2026.
Overview
BigHat Biosciences, based in San Mateo, California, is an AI-native antibody company. Its Milliner platform pairs a synthetic biology wet lab that can synthesise, purify and characterise hundreds of antibodies a week with machine learning that proposes the next designs. Lead programme BHB810 is a CDH17-directed VHH-Fc antibody-drug conjugate with a compact antibody format and a stable payload; across about 30 patient- and cell-derived tumour models it produced complete or near-complete tumour clearance, and the first patient was dosed in a phase 1 dose-escalation trial in gastric, gastro-oesophageal junction and other advanced gastrointestinal tumours on 1 September 2026. BigHat has completed collaborations with Merck and Johnson and Johnson and partners with Eli Lilly through Lilly TuneLab. The company describes itself as a Series B company that has raised more than USD 100 million; round details were not on fetched pages.
Notes
top- Colorectal included because the trial covers advanced gastrointestinal tumours broadly; specific enrolment beyond gastric and GEJ not confirmed. Founding year and round amounts not sourced.
