Biotroy Therapeutics is a Shanghai company developing antibodies against newly discovered immune checkpoints, the brakes that tumours use to switch off the immune system. Its first antibody, BT02, is in early trials in melanoma, lung cancer and blood cancers.
Shanghai Biotroy Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (BioTroy), at Zhangheng Road, Pudong, Shanghai, was founded in 2019, according to the company, by Dr Jie Xu, whose laboratory reported new immune checkpoints including CD3L1 (TPRIPL1, Cell 2024) and galectin-8 as an LILRB4 ligand. The company develops first-in-class monoclonal antibodies against original tumour immunology targets; its pipeline lists BT01 and BT02 for solid tumours, BT03 and an undisclosed BT04. It reports a first US IND clearance in 2023 and a first China IND clearance in 2024. BT02, an intravenous monoclonal antibody, is in three ClinicalTrials.gov studies posted in August 2025: a phase 1b study in advanced melanoma with Peking University Cancer Hospital (NCT07107178), a phase 1 study in advanced lung cancer (NCT07110363) and a phase 1/2 study in relapsed or refractory haematological cancers (NCT07107204). Investors named on its site are Kaifeng Venture, Hongke Capital, Xiantong Capital and the Shanghai Biomedical Fund; the company reports an angel round of tens of millions of yuan and a Pre-A round of over 100 million yuan. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07107178, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in August 2025.
