Clovis Oncology
Clovis Oncology was the Colorado company that brought the PARP inhibitor rucaparib (Rubraca) to market for ovarian and prostate cancer before filing for bankruptcy in December 2022; its products passed to pharma& in 2023.
Overview
Clovis Oncology, based in Boulder, Colorado and listed on Nasdaq, developed rucaparib (Rubraca), a PARP inhibitor approved in the United States from 2016 for BRCA-mutated ovarian cancer, then as maintenance therapy (ARIEL3) and for BRCA-mutated metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (TRITON2). An earlier lead, the EGFR inhibitor rociletinib, was abandoned in 2016 after disputed response data. Competition from other PARP inhibitors and a restricted label left the company unable to service its debt; it filed for Chapter 11 in December 2022 and sold Rubraca to pharma& in 2023. It appears on OnCo as a lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.
