Ellele Health makes a soft balloon device that collects a sample from the vaginal wall, and is looking for signs of womb and ovarian cancer in those samples. It aims to offer a gentler test than a biopsy.
Ellele Health Limited, at Granta Park, Great Abington, near Cambridge, England, was founded in 2024, according to the company, and is part of TOGL (The Origin Group Limited), whose mucosal sampling technology and hologenomic pipeline were used to develop a colorectal cancer diagnostic. Ellele's proprietary balloon device collects a vaginal sample, which the company uses to search for biomarkers of endometrial and ovarian cancer and to build a women's health biobank. The exploratory Ellele-02 study (NCT07429799) plans to collect samples from 300 people with and without these cancers, with Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh as collaborators. Its first registered cancer study, NCT07429799, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in February 2026.
