Geneoscopy
A St. Louis diagnostics company whose ColoSense stool RNA test became, in 2024, the first RNA-based colorectal cancer screening test approved in the United States.
Overview
Geneoscopy was founded by Washington University alumni to develop diagnostics from RNA shed by cells of the gut lining into stool. Its first product, ColoSense, combines eight RNA markers with a faecal immunochemical test for blood and was approved by the FDA in May 2024 for colorectal cancer screening in average-risk adults aged 45 and over, on the strength of the CRC-PREVENT study. The company positions stool RNA as less prone to the age-related false positives of stool DNA methylation tests and is developing further gut RNA tests, including for inflammatory bowel disease.
