ImmuNext is a small US company that makes antibodies to adjust the immune system. In cancer its main work was an antibody against VISTA, a brake on immune cells, which it licensed first to Janssen and later offered to Curis.
ImmuNext, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, describes itself as developing compounds for immunotherapy of cancer and autoimmune disease. Its lead oncology asset is an anti-VISTA antibody: CI-8993, formerly JNJ-61610588, a clinical-stage monoclonal antibody that antagonises VISTA signalling, originally partnered with Janssen for cancer. In January 2020 Curis paid an upfront fee for an option to an exclusive worldwide licence to ImmuNext's anti-VISTA antagonist antibodies in oncology, with development, regulatory and commercial milestones and royalties, and planned a Phase 1a/1b study of CI-8993. Outside cancer, ImmuNext licensed INX-021, a CD40L antibody then in preclinical development, to Sanofi in January 2017 with potential milestone payments of up to USD 500 million, and partnered VISTA agonists with Roche for autoimmune disease. The 2017 release also named a CD40 agonist for neoantigen cancer vaccines.
