Imunon
Imunon, formerly Celsion, is a New Jersey company developing a DNA-based interleukin-12 immunotherapy for ovarian cancer after its heat-activated liposomal doxorubicin, ThermoDox, failed in liver cancer.
Overview
Imunon, which renamed itself from Celsion Corporation in 2022, is listed on Nasdaq. Its earlier lead product ThermoDox, a heat-sensitive liposomal doxorubicin released by radiofrequency ablation, failed the phase 3 HEAT and OPTIMA trials in hepatocellular carcinoma. The company now develops IMNN-001 (formerly GEN-1), a plasmid encoding interleukin-12 delivered into the abdomen to treat advanced ovarian cancer alongside chemotherapy, which is in phase 3. It appears on OnCo as a lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.
