Keros Therapeutics is a Massachusetts biotech that works on the TGF-beta family signals controlling blood cell production; its activin ligand trap elritercept treats anaemia in myelodysplastic syndromes and myelofibrosis and was licensed to Takeda.
Overview
Keros Therapeutics develops medicines that modulate transforming growth factor beta superfamily signalling. Elritercept (KER-050, now TAK-226) is a modified activin receptor type IIA ligand trap that promotes red cell and platelet production; it showed durable transfusion independence in lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes and myelofibrosis and was licensed to Takeda outside mainland China in December 2024. Cibotercept (KER-012) was studied in pulmonary arterial hypertension and KER-065 is in development for neuromuscular disease.
