Lamassu Biotech is testing a tablet that switches back on p53, a protein that normally stops cancer growth, in tumours where p53 itself is still intact.
Lamassu Biotech is a private clinical-stage company that announced corporate offices in Cleveland in May 2024 and develops small molecules for oncology and metabolic indications, including a treatment for acute pancreatitis and a veterinary arm, Lamassu Pets. SA53 (SA53-OS) is an oral MDM2 inhibitor designed to reactivate wild-type p53, in a first-in-human phase 1/2a study (LB-SA53-101) in locally advanced or metastatic solid tumours (NCT06578624); initial safety and pharmacokinetic data were presented at ESMO 2026. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06578624, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in August 2024.
