Liberate Bio is working on ways to deliver genetic medicines straight to immune cells in the blood and bone marrow inside the body, so they can be reprogrammed to fight blood cancers or calm autoimmune disease. Its programmes were preclinical in 2026.
Liberate Bio is a Cambridge, Massachusetts company built on its RAPTOR discovery platform, which searches for delivery vehicles that carry genetic payloads to specific cell populations in the body that have been hard to reach. The company states that its initial focus is delivery to cells that would let it treat both haematological cancers and autoimmune disease, including myeloid immune cells and the bone marrow, and its site lists oncology and autoimmunity programmes. A trade report in October 2025 described in vivo CAR macrophage (CAR-M) work, a USD 31 million seed round exclusively from Khosla Ventures with a Series A under way, a 2022 founding based on research from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Minnesota, chief executive Shawn Davis and chief scientific officer Walter Strapps.
