Metaclipse Therapeutics makes a personalised cancer vaccine from tiny pieces of the patient's own tumour, coated with immune-boosting proteins. Its first trial tests the vaccine, alone or with an immunotherapy drug, in head and neck cancer that has come back.
Metaclipse Therapeutics Corporation develops membrane-anchored biological adjuvants: immunostimulatory proteins linked directly to a particulate antigen source. Its lead platform, Membrex, is an autologous immunotherapy made from membrane vesicles prepared from the patient's own tumour tissue and modified with immunostimulatory proteins, given by intradermal injection; a second platform, VaxRex, applies the same adjuvants to virus-like particles for infectious disease vaccines. The company has been funded largely by grants, including SBIR awards from the NCI, a $6 million Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) product development award in November 2024 for Membrex with a checkpoint inhibitor in recurrent head and neck cancer, and a $355,000 NCI SBIR contract in September 2025 for work in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07898124, a phase 1 study in Houston of the tumour membrane vesicle (TMV) vaccine alone or with the anti-PD-1 antibody toripalimab-tpzi around salvage surgery for loco-regionally recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in October 2026.
