Overview
Microbiotica is a clinical-stage live biotherapeutic company at Chesterford Research Park, Cambridge, spun out of Trevor Lawley's laboratory at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. Its clinic-led platform profiles patient microbiomes at strain resolution to identify bacteria associated with clinical benefit, then formulates defined consortia. MB097 is a precision microbiome co-therapy for advanced melanoma given with anti-PD-1 therapy; the international phase 1b MELODY-1 trial completed recruitment in September 2025 and positive results were announced in May 2026. MB310 is a defined consortium for ulcerative colitis with positive phase 1b COMPOSER-1 results in February 2026. The company reports GBP 62 million of equity investment to date, including a GBP 50 million Series B in 2022.
