NanoEcho was developing a way to see whether rectal cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes, using iron oxide particles that vibrate in a magnetic field and show up on ultrasound. The company was declared bankrupt in October 2026.
NanoEcho AB (publ), of Lund, Sweden, developed a diagnostic method combining iron oxide-based nanoparticles, a magnetic field and ultrasound imaging to map whether early rectal cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes, with the aim of sparing patients unnecessary major surgery. Its phase 2 study (NCT06693375) evaluated dose and safety of NanoEcho Particle-1 with the NanoEcho imaging device in healthy volunteers and rectal cancer patients, under EU trial number 2024-515335-29-00. On 12 October 2026 the Helsingborg District Court declared the company bankrupt and appointed a trustee. Its first registered cancer study, NCT06693375, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in November 2024.
