Netris Pharma
Netris Pharma is a Lyon biotech built on Patrick Mehlen's discovery that tumours use the guidance protein netrin-1 to survive; its antibody NP137 blocks netrin-1 and has shown activity in endometrial cancer.
Overview
Netris Pharma develops therapies that restore the cell death normally triggered by dependence receptors when their ligand is absent. NP137 is a humanised antibody that neutralises netrin-1, a ligand many tumours over-produce to block this apoptosis. In a phase 1 study it was safe and produced responses in endometrial carcinoma, and a Nature paper in 2023 showed it reverses epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and sensitises tumours to chemotherapy. It is being tested with carboplatin and paclitaxel, and with pembrolizumab, in endometrial and cervical cancers.
