New Phase makes iron oxide nanoparticles that are injected into a vein and then heated inside tumours by a magnetic field outside the body. It is testing the approach in people with stage 4 solid cancers.
New Phase Ltd., of Petah Tikva, Israel, develops the Sarah Nanotechnology System: Sarah nanoparticles (SaNP), multicore superparamagnetic iron oxide cores in a biocompatible polymer coating, given intravenously and expected to accumulate in tumours through the enhanced permeability and retention effect, and an electromagnetic induction system that applies an alternating magnetic field at 290 kHz to heat the particles to 50 degrees Celsius. The company states the system is classified as a Class III medical device and that it holds 13 granted patents. After an early feasibility trial in Israel, a study of the system for hyperthermia treatment of advanced metastatic solid tumours (NCT07224464) is registered with US sites. Its first registered cancer trial on ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT07224464, was posted in November 2025.
