Overview
Panbela Therapeutics, formerly Sun BioPharma, develops polyamine-targeting therapies. Ivospemin (SBP-101) is a polyamine analogue that is taken up preferentially by pancreatic acinar and cancer cells and disrupts polyamine metabolism. The phase 2/3 ASPIRE trial tested ivospemin with gemcitabine and nab-paclitaxel in first-line metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Through its acquisition of Cancer Prevention Pharmaceuticals it also holds eflornithine-based programmes for familial adenomatous polyposis.
