aka PellePharm, Inc.
PellePharm is a Californian company, an affiliate of BridgeBio, that reformulated the Hedgehog inhibitor patidegib as a skin gel to prevent basal cell carcinomas in people with Gorlin syndrome.
Overview
PellePharm develops patidegib topical gel (formerly saridegib, IPI-926), a Hedgehog pathway inhibitor applied to the skin to block the Smoothened receptor in basal cell carcinomas without the taste loss, hair loss and muscle cramps of oral Hedgehog inhibitors. The drug is aimed at Gorlin syndrome (basal cell nevus syndrome), where patients develop many tumours over a lifetime, and at high-frequency sporadic basal cell carcinoma. A phase 3 trial in Gorlin syndrome completed enrolment in 2020 but did not meet its primary endpoint.
