Strand AI is a two-person Winter 2026 Y Combinator company in San Francisco building models that reconstruct measurements a patient's record never captured. Its first model, Lattice, predicts spatially resolved protein-marker maps from routine haematoxylin and eosin whole-slide images and returns them as virtual multiplex immunofluorescence channels at the resolution of the input image. The company states that Lattice was developed on thousands of tissue regions and millions of image patches, drawn overwhelmingly from cancer tissue and spanning more than a hundred protein markers, and that predictions are evaluated at pixel, cell, region and population level. It is sold as a service: partners send digitised slides and get back predicted spatial proteomics with cell segmentation, phenotyping and a written analysis, or have the model deployed inside their own environment, for retrospective cohorts, patient stratification and deciding which samples justify real multiplex staining. Outputs are research use only and not for clinical or diagnostic procedures.
