Strand Therapeutics
Strand makes programmable messenger RNA medicines that switch on only inside tumours. Its first drug is injected into a tumour and makes cells there produce an immune-boosting signal.
Overview
Strand Therapeutics is a clinical-stage mRNA company. Its platform combines SignalPath lipid nanoparticles for delivery beyond the liver, SignalLock microRNA-sensing circuits that activate the RNA in target tissue and silence it elsewhere, and SignalScript self-replicating and circular RNA for potency and durability. Lead programme STX-001 is a lipid nanoparticle-encapsulated self-replicating mRNA encoding interleukin-12, given intratumourally in advanced solid tumours; the IND cleared in January 2024, the first patient was dosed in May 2024 and initial phase 1 results were presented at ASCO 2025, with the company reporting complete responses. STX-003, a systemic tumour programme using SignalLock, is planned to enter the clinic in 2026, and STX-005 is an in vivo CAR-T programme for autoimmune disease and blood cancers. Strand raised a USD 52 million Series A (2021), USD 45 million Series A1 (2022) and USD 153 million Series B (August 2025).
