Turbine builds computer simulations of cancer cells so drug developers can run millions of virtual experiments before doing them in the lab, for example to pick targets for antibody-drug conjugates.
Overview
Turbine (Turbine Ltd.), founded in 2016 in Budapest, virtualises biological experiments with its Simulated Cell technology. Its Virtual Lab lets partners simulate experiments across more than 1,400 oncology cell lines, 1,200 payloads and drugs and 8,500 gene alterations, with wet-lab validation loops that feed back into the models. Commercial offerings include ADC Intelligence for antibody-drug conjugate target and payload selection, Target Discovery and De-risking Intelligence, and combination design for precision oncology. Partners listed include AstraZeneca, MSD, Bayer, Ono Pharmaceutical, Cancer Research Horizons, Debiopharm and Crown Bioscience. The company's press kit states it has raised more than USD 60 million and is at Series B stage, with investors including Accel, Mercia, XTX Ventures, Delin Ventures, Interactive Venture Partners, MassMutual Ventures, MSD Global Health Innovation Fund and Accenture.
