Veru
Veru is a Miami company whose oncology programmes were the selective androgen receptor modulator enobosarm for AR-positive, ER-positive breast cancer and the microtubule disruptor sabizabulin for prostate cancer, which was halted in 2022.
Overview
Veru Inc., listed on Nasdaq, moved from sexual health products into oncology and metabolic disease. Sabizabulin, an oral microtubule disruptor, was tested in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (VERACITY) until the trial was stopped in 2022 and then, controversially, in COVID-19. Enobosarm, a selective androgen receptor modulator, was studied in androgen receptor-positive, oestrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer (ARTEST, ENABLAR-2) before the company redirected it to preserving muscle during weight-loss therapy. It appears on OnCo as a lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.
