Zydus Lifesciences
A large Ahmedabad drug maker with oncology generics and biosimilars for India and US approvals for cancer generics such as enzalutamide.
Overview
Zydus Lifesciences (formerly Cadila Healthcare) was founded in 1952 by Ramanbhai Patel and Indravadan Modi and is listed on the NSE and BSE. Its oncology business combines Indian biosimilars and generics with a US generics pipeline; in October 2024 it received FDA approval for enzalutamide tablets for prostate cancer. Zydus also runs one of India's larger in-house research organisations and a hospital group, and its vaccine arm developed a DNA COVID-19 vaccine, an indicator of the platform capacity that Indian companies can turn toward cancer.
