A Glasgow company's blood test that shines infrared light through serum to look for cancer; it is sold in the UK for brain tumours, and the multi-cancer version is still in study.
In Dxcover's discovery study (Cameron et al., British Journal of Cancer 2023; 2,092 patients, eight cancers) areas under the curve against symptomatic controls ranged from 0.76 (breast) to 0.91 (colorectal, kidney, lung), and pooling all eight against asymptomatic controls the model detected 64% of stage I cancers at 99% specificity, with 57% overall sensitivity. The company's AACR 2026 release claims more than 90% sensitivity for stage I to IV colorectal, pancreatic and ovarian cancer, without sample size or specificity.
Dxcover describes the technology as a platform for multiple cancers with a first application in brain tumours: its brain test is UKCA-marked and available in the UK to registered GPs and private specialists (company, 13 February 2026), supported by the EMBRACE study (Brennan et al., ESMO Open 2026; 86% sensitivity for brain cancer). Dxcover announced CE-IVDR Class C certification on 3 March 2026 without naming the product or indication in the release. No FDA status or price was found.
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of a drop of dried serum captures the overall chemical make-up of the blood; machine learning separates cancer from no cancer.
