A US and UK charity, set up in 2010 by the children of a woman who died of anal cancer, that offers peer support to patients and carers, funds research and campaigns on HPV vaccination and anal cancer screening.
The HPV and Anal Cancer Foundation was incorporated on 22 July 2010, three months after the death of Paulette Crowther, by her three children and caregivers, Justine, Tristan and Camille Almada, according to its what-we-do page; their own account of her illness is on its our-story page. Its stated mission is to highlight the role of HPV in cancer, accelerate a cure for the cancers HPV causes with a focus on anal cancer, advocate for prevention including gender-neutral vaccination, and support survivors, caregivers, scientists and providers. Its site offers connection with trained peer volunteers for patients and caregivers, a patient summit, Anal Cancer Awareness Day and a research roadmap. It has 501(c)(3) status in the US (EIN 27-3217520) and states that its UK arm is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (1147457), with offices in New York and London.
