The US charity for neurofibromatosis (NF1 and the schwannomatoses), genetic conditions that grow tumours on nerves: it funds research, runs a clinic network and keeps a patient registry for trials.
The Children's Tumor Foundation was founded in 1978 and works on neurofibromatosis type 1 and all forms of schwannomatosis, including NF2-related schwannomatosis; together, it says, these affect 1 in every 2,000 births and can lead to cancer among other problems. It states that it has invested nearly $200 million in NF research and describes itself as the drug discovery engine for NF, working with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on treatments. More than 20,000 patients a year visit its NF Clinic Network of more than 70 clinics across North America, and its NF Registry matches patients to clinical trials. The IRS Business Master File lists revenue of about $20 million for the tax year ending December 2024.
