Hospital Erasto Gaertner in Curitiba is a philanthropic cancer hospital opened in 1972 by the Liga Paranaense de Combate ao Câncer, and is the largest dedicated cancer centre in Paraná, treating mostly public health system patients. It provides surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiotherapy, paediatric oncology, haematology and palliative care, is accredited as a CACON (high-complexity oncology centre) by Brazil's Ministry of Health, and runs a research institute and clinical trials centre that participates in the Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group and industry trials.
