A US patient group for people with gastrointestinal stromal tumour (GIST) and their carers: an email list, phone pals, GIST summits and expert-answered questions.
GIST Support International says on its home page that, because GIST is a rare cancer, it helps patients understand their disease and their options for care. It offers an email listserv, a phone pals programme, a Facebook group and GIST Summits where patients and caregivers can meet, and a forum where physicians, researchers and other experts answer questions. Its news pages cover ripretinib (Qinlock) and the INVICTUS and INTRIGUE trials, the NIH clinic for wild-type and paediatric GIST, and a memorial fund for research. The IRS lists it as a 501(c)(3) charity in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, with tax exemption from March 2005.
