A department of medical oncology followed after JIPMER became autonomous in 2008, the year a new 82-bed RCC building and day-care centre was commissioned.
The centre's page states that it sees about 3,000 new cancer patients and around 40,000 follow-up visits a year, and that it is expanding to bring surgical oncology and nuclear medicine under one roof, with palliative and preventive oncology to follow.
