A UK charity that funds leukaemia research, including fellowships for early career researchers, and works to improve care for people with leukaemia.
Leukaemia UK combines two charities: the Elimination of Leukaemia Fund, founded in 1977 by Derek Mitchell after his wife Isobel was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia, and Leuka, founded in 1982 by Lester Cazin, a leukaemia patient at Hammersmith Hospital. They merged in 2019. It funds project grants, John Goldman Fellowships for early career researchers and a Patient Care Pioneer Award, and is a partner in IMPACT, a clinical trials partnership for stem cell transplant patients. The Charity Commission register records latest income of about £3.6 million for the year ending 31 December 2025.
