A Chicago-area charity, founded in 1946, that funds leukaemia research and supports patients and families.
The Leukemia Research Foundation was established in Chicago in 1946 in memory of 12-year-old Sherwin Pessin, according to its about page. Its mission is to cure leukaemia by funding innovative research and to support patients and families; it states that more than $120 million has been raised since its founding and describes itself as the nation's largest nonprofit focused exclusively on funding leukaemia research. It is a different organisation from Blood Cancer United, formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The IRS Business Master File lists revenue of about $6 million for the tax year ending June 2025.
