The local cancer charity for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales, which pays for cancer facilities and runs a cancer awareness service.
Lingen Davies was launched in 1979 by Bernard Lingen, then Mayor of Shrewsbury, and local accountant Frank Davies to build and equip a new radiotherapy department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where a whole cancer centre has since been built. It now funds services, equipment, technology and staff for people with cancer in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin and Mid Wales, and runs the LiveLife Cancer Awareness Service in the community. Its current Sunflower Appeal aims to raise £5 million for a new cancer treatment centre at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, which it says will double treatment capacity across the region together with existing chemotherapy services in Shrewsbury. The Charity Commission register records latest income of about £1.5 million for the year ending 31 March 2025.
