National Cancer Center of China
The National Cancer Center is the body that counts China's cancers, sets national screening and quality programmes and publishes the country's official cancer statistics.
Overview
Established in 2011 and hosted by the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the National Cancer Center runs the National Central Cancer Registry (more than 700 population-based registries), the Cancer Screening Program in Rural China and urban screening programmes, national quality control for cancer care, and the Journal of the National Cancer Center. Its 2024 report estimated about 4.8 million new cases and 2.6 million deaths in 2022 (age-standardised incidence 201.61 and mortality 96.47 per 100,000), with lung, colorectal, thyroid, liver and stomach cancers making up 57.42% of cases and mortality rates falling about 1.3% a year since 2000.
