A pancreatic cancer research charity that scaled back in 2024 after 20 years of grants; it still funds its tissue bank and a urine test study and asks supporters to give to Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund made project grants for pancreatic cancer research in the UK and Ireland for 20 years. It reports funding research worth just under £20 million: 73 projects worth about £15.6 million, £1.6 million for the UroPanc study of a urine-based early detection test, and £2.4 million to set up the PCRF Tissue Bank in 2016, which it says became the first tissue bank in England to receive ISO accreditation. In 2024 it announced it would scale back at the end of April 2024: no new three-year projects, while continuing live projects, UroPanc and the tissue bank, and encouraging supporters to fundraise for Pancreatic Cancer UK instead. The Charity Commission register records latest income of about £1.5 million for the year ending 30 November 2025.
