An Australian charity, founded in 2012, that gives people with rare and less common cancers one-to-one support from specialist cancer navigators, help with treatment costs, and a voice in national policy.
Rare Cancers Australia describes itself as a charity whose purpose is to improve awareness, support and treatment of Australians with rare and less common cancers, and says one in four people diagnosed with cancer in Australia is told their cancer is rare. Its story page says Kate and Richard Vines founded it in 2012, after Kate was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 1991 and found little support. Its pages describe specialist cancer navigators who take referrals from health professionals, a Patient Treatment Fund for hospital and pharmacy costs, support groups, a Rare Cancer Support Guide, a knowledgebase of rare cancer types, and policy work on clinical trials and genomics. The Australian Business Register lists Rare Cancers Australia Ltd (ABN 24 159 196 997) as a public company, registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission from 3 December 2012, with its main business location in New South Wales postcode 2576; its contact page gives a postal address in Bowral. Its site refused an automated request on 5 November 2026, so the pages were read from Internet Archive copies.
