A US foundation, founded in 2009, that works on treatments for all rare cancers and runs TRACK, a fully remote precision medicine trial for people with rare cancers or cancer of unknown primary.
TargetCancer Foundation was founded in 2009 by Paul Poth, a lawyer diagnosed at 38 with cholangiocarcinoma, according to its about page; its first research investment was $7,500 to the Center for Molecular Therapeutics at Massachusetts General Hospital. It began by funding basic research in cancers such as cholangiocarcinoma and oesophageal cancer and now works on problems shared across all rare cancers. Its home page describes TCF-001 TRACK, a precision medicine trial enrolling 400 people with rare cancers or cancer of unknown primary, in which patients consent and enrol from home without travelling to a trial site; it also runs scientific meetings and an advocacy campaign on rare cancer research funding. The IRS lists it in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with tax exemption from August 2009.
