John Oyler
John Oyler co-founded BeiGene in Beijing in 2010 and built it into the first China-born biotech to run global trials, win FDA approvals and out-sell Western rivals with zanubrutinib.
Overview
An American entrepreneur who co-founded BeiGene with Xiaodong Wang; the company took zanubrutinib through global head-to-head trials (ALPINE against ibrutinib) to leadership of the BTK inhibitor class, developed tislelizumab and sonrotoclax, built manufacturing in Suzhou, Guangzhou and New Jersey, and in 2025 renamed itself BeOne Medicines and redomiciled to Switzerland while keeping most of its research in China.
