The JNET type (1, 2A, 2B or 3) is how an endoscopist describes a bowel growth seen with magnifying narrow-band imaging, and it predicts what the pathologist will find, from a harmless polyp to deep cancer.
The Japan NBI Expert Team unified several Japanese magnifying narrow-band imaging classifications into one (Sano and colleagues, Digestive Endoscopy 2016; proposed 2014). It has four categories of vessel and surface pattern, which correspond to: type 1, hyperplastic or sessile serrated polyp; type 2A, low-grade intramucosal neoplasia; type 2B, high-grade intramucosal neoplasia or shallow submucosal invasive cancer; type 3, deep submucosal invasive cancer.
