PRIMUS 001 is the flagship trial of the UK Precision-Panc programme, comparing a new oxaliplatin, fluorouracil and nab-paclitaxel combination with standard nab-paclitaxel and gemcitabine at 30 NHS hospitals from Aberdeen to Plymouth while collecting tumour DNA to find who benefits from which chemotherapy.
PRIMUS 001 (ISRCTN75002153, NCT04151277) opened in November 2017 and randomises patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer to FOLFOX-A or nab-paclitaxel plus gemcitabine with G-CSF support, with progression-free survival as the primary endpoint and a biomarker programme run through Precision-Panc's molecular profiling. The registry lists 500 participants (estimated), 30 UK sites (Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cambridge, Cottingham, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Huddersfield, Inverness, Leeds, Liverpool, Guy's and Imperial in London among them), a primary completion date of December 2025 and a status of unknown because the record has not been verified since; no results were found in Europe PMC on 24 September 2026. Its siblings PRIMUS 002 (neoadjuvant chemotherapy for resectable disease) and PRIMUS 004 (biomarker-directed second-line platform) are registered with ISRCTN.
