Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA)
A melanoma research funder created in 2007 by the Milken family that backed early immunotherapy and targeted-therapy work and now focuses on rare melanoma subtypes and resistance.
Founded 2007 (Debra and Leon Black with Michael Milken); 100% of donations go to research thanks to founders covering overhead. Funded early research on PD-1, BRAF/MEK combinations, neoadjuvant immunotherapy and TIL therapy; runs the RARE patient registry for acral and mucosal melanoma, the Dermatology Fellowship programme, and patient education on adjuvant and neoadjuvant choices. Partners with industry via the Melanoma Research Alliance Team Science Awards.
