ACS BrightEdge (American Cancer Society)
BrightEdge is the American Cancer Society's own venture fund. It invests donated money in start-ups working on cancer and returns any gains to the charity's mission.
Overview
ACS BrightEdge is the impact venture capital arm of the American Cancer Society, investing philanthropic capital in early-stage companies developing cancer therapeutics, diagnostics, devices and care delivery tools, with returns recycled into the Society's research and patient programmes. It is one of the clearest examples of a disease charity acting as an investor rather than a grant-maker. Portfolio links in OnCo are derived from the startup records that name it.
