AiM Medical Robotics is a Massachusetts company building a surgical robot that works inside an MRI scanner, so that brain procedures, including biopsy and ablation of tumours, can be guided by live images.
AiM Medical Robotics Inc., of Worcester, Massachusetts, was founded on MRI-compatible surgical robotics research by Gregory Fischer at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. It is developing a portable MRI-compatible robot for the MRI suite and the operating room, first for placing neurostimulation leads in Parkinson's disease and also for cranial procedures including biopsy, tumour ablation and targeted delivery of drugs into the brain. In September 2025 it announced an USD 8.1 million Series A led by IQ Capital and 1540 Ventures, with brain cancer impact investors including the Sontag Innovation Fund and Cancer Research Horizons taking part. In fiscal year 2026 the National Cancer Institute funded its SBIR project on an intraoperative MRI-guided neurosurgery robot for ablative treatment of brain cancer (1R44CA314728-01, USD 1,008,660).
