Ascendo Biotechnology makes an antibody that releases a brake on the body's first-line immune cells, aiming to help the immune system attack solid tumours that resist current immunotherapy.
Ascendo Biotechnology Inc., headquartered in Taipei, was founded in 2019 as a spin-out from BRIM Biotechnology, according to the company, by Dr Yen-Ta Lu of MacKay Memorial Hospital. It targets the TLT-1/CD11b innate immune checkpoint axis. ASD141, a first-in-class anti-CD11b monoclonal antibody that blocks TLT-1 signalling, is in a first-in-human phase 1 trial in advanced solid tumours (NCT06235437); ASD001, a CD11b-activating antibody for autoimmune disease, is preclinical. In May 2026 it completed an oversubscribed Series A with investors including Taiwania Capital (TaiAx Life Science Fund), Yuanta Venture Capital and Industrial Technology Investment Corporation. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06235437, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in February 2024.
