Bantam Pharmaceutical is developing BTM-3566, a medicine taken by mouth that acts on the cell's mitochondria to push cancer cells into self-destruction. It is in early trials in B-cell lymphomas and advanced solid tumours.
Bantam Pharmaceutical describes itself as a drug discovery and development company targeting selective modulation of mitochondrial dynamics in cancer. Its lead compound, BTM-3566, is an orally available first-in-class small molecule that the company says activates the mitochondrial protease OMA1 and restores apoptosis, with an initial focus on diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. It is in two phase 1 trials: one in relapsed or refractory mature B-cell lymphomas (NCT06792734), whose first site at MD Anderson was activated in February 2025 and which expanded into Canada in March 2025, and one in advanced solid tumours (NCT07266285). The company reported completing a USD 25 million seed financing in September 2021 and says it is seeking partners and investors. Company releases are datelined Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and earlier New York. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06792734, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in January 2025.
