Blueprint Medicines
Blueprint Medicines invented Ayvakit, a pill approved for systemic mastocytosis and for a rare gut tumour called GIST that carries a specific mutation. The French drug maker Sanofi bought the company in 2025.
Overview
Blueprint Medicines is a Cambridge, Massachusetts kinase medicine company, now a Sanofi company. Its approved product, Ayvakit/Ayvakyt (avapritinib), is a KIT and PDGFRA inhibitor approved for advanced and indolent systemic mastocytosis and, per the company's site, for certain gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GIST). The pipeline includes elenestinib, a next-generation KIT inhibitor for systemic mastocytosis, and BLU-808, an oral wild-type KIT inhibitor for mast cell-driven allergic and inflammatory disease. Sanofi and Blueprint announced a definitive agreement on 2 June 2025 at 129 US dollars per share in cash (about 9.1 billion US dollars equity value) plus a contingent value right of up to 6 US dollars per share; the tender offer expired on 17 July 2025 with about 70.9 percent of shares tendered and the merger closed shortly after. Blueprint's former Nasdaq ticker was BPMC.
