CERo Therapeutics engineers a patient's own T cells so that they can both kill cancer cells and swallow their fragments, a job normally done by other immune cells. Its first product, CER-1236, is in an early trial in acute myeloid leukaemia and related bone marrow cancers.
CERo Therapeutics Holdings, Inc., based at 201 Haskins Way, South San Francisco, California, develops chimeric engulfment receptor T (CER-T) cells, autologous T cells engineered to combine cytotoxic killing with phagocytosis and antigen presentation. Its lead product CER-1236 targets TIM-4 ligand (phosphatidylserine), an 'eat me' signal exposed on stressed and abnormal cells. The FDA cleared the IND in November 2024 after a brief clinical hold, and a phase 1 study in AML, myelodysplastic syndrome and myelofibrosis is registered (NCT06834282); the company has filed a second IND for non-small cell lung cancer and ovarian cancer. The predecessor, CERo Therapeutics, Inc., was incorporated in Delaware on 23 September 2016 and went public by business combination with Phoenix Biotech Acquisition Corp. in February 2024; Nasdaq suspended trading in October 2025, the shares moved to the OTCQB in December 2025, and the delisting was affirmed in January 2026, according to the company's annual report. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06834282, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in February 2025.
