Constellation Pharmaceuticals developed medicines for cancer that change which genes are switched on in cancer cells. MorphoSys bought it in 2021, and its drugs pelabresib and CPI-0209 (now tulmimetostat) went with it.
Constellation Pharmaceuticals was a clinical-stage company developing therapeutics that selectively modulate gene expression for patients with cancer (Third Rock Ventures). MorphoSys AG completed a cash tender offer at $34.00 a share on 15 July 2021, with a total equity value of about $1.7 billion, and Constellation became an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of MorphoSys. The MorphoSys release names Constellation's clinical-stage assets as pelabresib (CPI-0610) and CPI-0209, and also mentions two earlier programmes. Its common stock had traded on Nasdaq as CNST. MorphoSys is itself now part of Novartis.
Pelabresib is an experimental small-molecule drug from Novartis Pharmaceuticals in phase 3 trials, with its target not yet stated publicly.
Tulmimetostat is an experimental tablet that blocks the gene-silencing enzymes EZH1 and EZH2. Novartis gained it by buying MorphoSys in 2024 and is testing it in prostate cancer, lymphomas and other solid tumours.
