Gennao Bio is a laboratory-stage company using an antibody licensed from Yale that can carry genetic material, or a cancer drug, into cells. Its cancer work so far is in animals.
Gennao Bio is a private genetic medicines company built on a cell-penetrating gene monoclonal antibody (GMAB) platform exclusively licensed from Yale University. Its May 2021 Series A release says it was co-founded in 2020 by Peter Glazer, Elias Quijano, Stephen Squinto and Bruce Turner, that GMAB can carry several classes of nucleic acid, and that it would develop candidates for oncology and rare monogenic skeletal muscle diseases. The $40 million Series A was co-led by OrbiMed and Logos Capital with Surveyor Capital. In April 2024 the company reported preclinical results at AACR for GMAB used as an antibody-drug conjugate carrying exatecan, a topoisomerase I inhibitor: it says the antibody enters tumour cells through ENT2, a nucleoside transporter overexpressed in many tumours, and that the conjugate caused durable tumour regression in a BRCA2-knockout colorectal cancer mouse model. No clinical trial was found.
