Gyala Therapeutics develops CAR-T cell therapy, in which a patient's own immune cells are modified to attack leukaemia. Its first product targets a protein called CD84 and is in an early trial in acute myeloid leukaemia and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia that has come back or not responded.
Gyala Therapeutics was founded in 2020 as a spin-off of Hospital Clinic Barcelona and the IDIBAPS research institute, according to the company. GYA01 is a CAR-T cell therapy targeting CD84. Spain's AEMPS authorised a phase 1/2a, open-label, single-arm trial (NCT07471789) in relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukaemia and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, with recruitment announced in February 2026 at Hospital La Fe in Valencia and Hospital Clinic Barcelona. In October 2024 the company announced 3 million euros from CDTI Innovation (Innvierte programme), Nara Capital and Invivo Partners, following a 1.5 million euro seed round in 2020. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07471789, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in March 2026.
