IRE (Institut national des Radioéléments)
IRE in Belgium is one of the world's few molybdenum-99 processors, taking irradiated targets from European research reactors, and its IRE ELiT arm makes the Galli Eo gallium-68 generator.
Overview
The Institut national des Radioéléments at Fleurus processes uranium targets irradiated in BR2, the Petten High Flux Reactor, MARIA and LVR-15 into molybdenum-99 and iodine-131 for generator and radiopharmaceutical makers. Its subsidiary IRE ELiT produces the Galli Eo germanium-68/gallium-68 generator used for PSMA and somatostatin PET and non-carrier-added lutetium-177. It is a Belgian public-interest foundation rather than a listed company.
